Thank you for visiting and supporting Online Meeting Places. As we have moved from web 1.0 (static pages) to web 2.0 (dynamic, interactive pages) – the web has moved from a depository of information to a “meeting place” for everyone. Think of Facebook, think of Twitter, and think about newer technologies such as Google Wave or Second Life of things which aren’t here like Full Immersion Virtual Reality…
In the early years of the Internet, online meetings were group discussions in a message board (were not “live”). Many online meetings today happen in real time, such as Instant Messaging which appeared in the mid-1990s. In the late 1990s, the first true web conferencing capability became available and dozens of other web conferencing venues followed thereafter. Online Meeting Places is our attempt to bring together informative articles, interesting videos, and lively chat about current and emerging places within the Internet to greet, meet, and interact with others. This interaction will grow to where some think that the meetings taking place in virtual reality will not be distinguishable as different to the participants as meetings which take ploace in the physical world… think about that!
